Happy New Year 2013! I’m sure you are hearing the “pay off debt” resolution, the “”less TV” resolution and no one forgets the “get in shape” resolution. This year St George is being challenged to succeed in a few pest control resolutions. Southwest Exterminators can tell you, poor sanitation can also lead to pest infestations.
The following resolutions will help you enjoy a pest-free start to the New Year:
1. Resolve to clean out the pantry.
Ants, roaches, crickets, and yes even spider are attracted to the food residues in your pantry (well actually the spider is attracted to the insects which are attracted to the residue). Food residues, even residues you can’t see can attract pests. So this year resolve to take everything out and use a household cleaner to sanitize the area before Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2013). [Valentine’s Day is the unofficial kickoff of southern Utah’s pest control season…romantic huh?]
2. Resolve to check food storage for bugs.
Many of us in southern Utah have food storage. While you clean out your pantry it is a good idea to do this to your food storage area as well. This also provides the opportunity to rotate out your dated food storage as well.
3. Resolve to seal my home’s exterior.
A well sealed home is a home protected from pests. Southwest Exterminators is offering 2013 discounts on its Plug-N-Protect TM program. But if you are a do-it-yourselfer caulking up cracks, insulating doorways, and mending screens can help provide a pest free living environment. The takeaway message from nearly every home inspection our company has ever conducted is this: It helps to winterize your home by sealing its exterior. Ask your technician about Southwest Exterminators Plug-N-Protect TM Program.
4. Resolve to store firewood away from the home.
Subterranean termites, carpenter ants, earwigs, crickets, cockroaches; all love to hide in and around piles of firewood. Relocating your pile at least 30 feet away from your foundation minimizes pest hiding locations next to your home. This of course offers better pest control successes year round. The important thing is to do it soon before it gets too hot to work outside. Make a resolution to have your firewood pile moved before Valentine’s Day 2013!
5. Resolve to minimize the use of pesticides.
Around the world, more and more consumers are becoming chemically aware. A similar mindset has swept Southwest Exterminators. Many of our clients are choosing our comprehensive environmentally sensitive pest control program known as PerimeterPLUS. The PerimeterPLUS model is brought to you by Southwest Exterminators and it is a three layered exterior perimeter pest control service. We perform one interior service with a highly effective interior product once a year. Then we keep a strong three layered protection plan on the exterior of your home or office. This allows us to minimize interior insecticide exposure. This is just one more way Southwest Exterminators is striving to “Personalize Your Pest Control”
